RIP IE6, You will not be missed...

It's no secret that IE6 has been a thorn in every developers side, for many years now, and that it simply does not want to give up the fight and go lie down. There are many factors involved with this relentless battle it wages against standard loving developers, I believe the strongest being ignorance...

Microsoft have learned from their mistakes, by punting "Automatic Updates" that pushes new software releases and patches to the average user, that is by default not aware of security threats, bugs and such concerns. If this is the correct approach to "educate it's users" is another topic of discussion, but it's evident that this strategy does help on some level, like upgrading old software with later versions. This strategy was first deployed with Vista users, pushing the newly released IE8 as an automatic update. Although it did upset the apple cart in a manner of speaking it did the job and updated many users in one foal swoop...

Anyway, back to the point - I found a very nifty site, that employs JQuery to emulate a browser alert, that once clicked will redirect the visitor to the Microsoft site (or Mozilla) where they can download a new browser version. Will this help the not so savvy user get the idea, well - it's worth a try, right?
